Tackling Explicit Themes

For my A-Level Film Studies coursework, I decided to step back from fun and adventurous stories and I wrote a screenplay with dark and explicit themes of child and domestic abuse, physical and sexual violence and its continuous cycle, alcohol addiction, and building up courage to stand up to superiors.

The Short Film won Best Short Film at the Tameside College Film Awards 2022, and was nominated for Best Screenplay. It also achieved Official Selection in the Lift-Off Global Network Sessions 2022, and Official Long-List Selection in the National Youth Film Awards 2022.

WARNING: This video contains sensitive material and touches on themes of sexual violence and child abuse. Viewer Discretion Advised.

"The short film tells the story of a regular teenage girl who lives alone with her father after the premature death of her mother due to unknown terms. The father lives in denial, unable to accept reality, and blames the daughter for his own mistakes."
